Janis Goodman
Mixed Media: Visual Thinking - The Artist Sketchbook

Janis Goodman is an Associate Professor at the Corcoran College of Art and Design and the coordinator of the Third Year Fine Arts Program. She received her M.F.A. in painting from the George Washington University and a B.A. from Queens College. She has received awards and grants from the D.C. Commission on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. She is included in the book, North American Women Artists of the Twentieth Century, by Nancy Heller, the 2004 New American Painting in Print vol. #57 and she is in Who's Who in American Art.

Ms. Goodman has exhibited her work throughout the U.S. and abroad. Internationally she has shown her work in Peru, the Netherlands, Italy, Russia and England. Nationally she has representation in New York, Maine, North Carolina and Washington, DC. She has had commissions for site specific drawing installations in Berlin, Germany, Indianapolis, IN and Washington, DC.     

 She co-curated with art historian Dennis Weller the traveling photography exhibition Is Seeing Believing? The Real, The Surreal, The Unreal in Contemporary Photography .

For the past three years she has been a visual arts reviewer for WETA's Around Town, the Washington PBS television affiliate.

Ms. Goodman was born in New York City, lives in the District of Columbia and maintains a studio in Mt. Rainier, Maryland.
