| Drawing
& Painting on the Amalfi Coast
Students will join Hotchkiss Art Department Chair and painter,
Charles Noyes, for intensive art studies grounded in the discipline
of drawing and painting from observation. Each day the class
will move to a different
location and focus on various aspects of the landscape, of
color and of architecture. Students will learn to manipulate
various drawing media (both black & white and color) as
well as watercolors. Instruction will be highly individualized.
Students will not only learn new skills and improve upon skills
they already have but they will also learn to appreciate and
to interpret visually the sights, patterns, sounds and colors
that make this small town in the Italian countryside look
and feel the way it does.
A solid background in drawing from observation and painting/color
theory is required. It is eqaully important that students
have an adventuresome spirit and be willing to open their
minds to new ways of seeing and learning. Class will generally
be held each morning from 9:00 AM - noon. Students will be
expected to do some independent work each afternoon and will
also have the option of accompanying the instructor on informal
afternoon painting treks.
