Witkowski Piano
 Mr. Witkowski has been acclaimed by the critics as “one of Brazil's
most promising talents,” who “never fails to impress the audience,” and whose
playing “is able to conjure up the devilish colors of an inferno as well as portray
an ethereal paradise….” A
native of Brazil, Mr. Witkowski has given solo recitals in the Czech Republic,
Brazil, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, China, Spain, and the U.S. Awarded best Stravinsky
performance at the Ibla Grand Prize International Piano Competition in Italy,
he has performed with the Grammy award-winning Emerson String Quartet as well
as the Fine Arts Quartet. As a first-prize winner at the CSMTA Young Artists Piano
Concerto Competition, he recently performed at the Masterworks Series of the Hartford
Symphony Orchestra. He earned a Bachelor of Music Degree, magna cum laude, from
the Hartt School of Music as well as his Master's Degree in Piano, under the guidance
of Luiz de Moura Castro. Much
sought after for their vibrant and dynamic four-hands and two piano performances,
Mr. Witkowski and his wife, pianist Gisele Nacif Witkowski, have delighted audiences
with their repertoire in New York, the Berkshires, Mass., and Connecticut, at
the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage, as well as in Italy at the Amalfi Coast
Music Festival. A recent performance of the Witkowski Piano Duo at Carnegie Hall's
Weill Hall was described by The New York Concert Review as “showing marvelous
rubato and tremendously clean playing, with a lovely sense of tone”. Mr. Witkowski
has also performed for several years at the “Music of Two Americas” concert series
produced in Ravello, Italy. Mr.
Witkowski is currently Chair of the Music Department at the Hotchkiss School where
he has taught piano since 1999. In addition, he serves as Director of Music Technology
at the school. Mr. Witkowski is also a founder of the Hotchkiss Summer Arts Program
in Italy.
