Robin Rice, baritone and Associate
Professor of Voice at Ohio State University, received his
B.M. degree from Baylor University and his M.M. and D.M.A.
degrees from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory
of Music. In addition, he has studied at the Mannes College
of Music in New York City and the American Institute of Musical
Studies in Graz, Austria. A specialist in the French repertoire,
Rice became an honored participant under Elly Ameling, Gerard
Souzay, and Dalton Baldwin at the Cleveland Art Song Festival.
An active performer, he was a recitalist for the Association
of Teachers of Singing of the United Kingdom in Bournemouth,
England and was a soloist with the Northern Czech Philaharmonic
Orchestra in Teplice, Czech Republic under the direction of
Maestro John Apeitos. Rice's operatic repertoire spans such
diverse roles as Mozart's Count Almaviva in The Marriage
of Figaro and the joyous Papageno in The Magic Flute,
to Lee Hoiby's Vernon in Summer and Smoke. He has
also performed the world premieres of Reynolds' The Hollow
Men, Rytel's Blake Songs, and Dmitriev's R.O.S.
Robin Rice has already achieved acclaim as a teacher of voice.
He is active as a Master Teacher throughout the United States
and Europe. His many Master Classes and Workshop venues include:
the Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón, Buenos
Aires, Argentina, the Castellina in Chianti Vocal Workshop
in Tuscany, Italy, the Cullasaja Vocal Workshop, the University
of Colorado at Boulder, Rice University and Baylor University.
He has also been a guest vocal teacher for Utah Opera's Young
Artist Program and Guest Vocal Coach for the Florida Grand
Opera Young Artist Program and the San Diego Opera's Artists'
Ensemble Program. His students sing major roles in major venues
throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.
