Accommodations

Lloyd's Baia Hotel
Festival participants and guests will be lodged at a gracious hotel overlooking the water in Vietri sul Mare, which boasts views from many terraces, two swimming pools, and a private beach. Study and rehearsal space are within walking distance of the hotel. More info.

Alternate Housing Arrangements
A limited amount of dormitory-style housing is available at a nearby hostel, run by a convent. This option is offered at a substantial savings for festival participants and students only. The hostel offers group rooms (male & female quarters) with shared bath. The facilities are quite spartan but clean and neat. Bed linens and towels must be brought independently. Those electing to stay in the hostel are encouraged to take meals on the festival meal plan so as to maintain contact with the group. The hostel is within walking distance of class-room facilities and rehearsal space in the town.

Vietri sul Mare
Vietri sul Mare, a small, charming seaside town situated on a bluff over the Bay of Salerno, has been one of the centers of Italian ceramics since the 15th century. Ceramic studios and workshops are found on every corner; colorful handpainted tiles line the streets. A strong fishing industry exists to this day and fleets of small boats set out at dawn each morning with a tangle of nets to drop out at sea.

Overlooking the sea, Vietri sul Mare is sheltered from behind by the Mount  St. Liberatore and Mount  Falerio. The town is internationally famous for its production of antique ceramics which  dates  back to Medieval  times and is  still of prime importance to its economic prosperity. Today the ceramics of Vietri have their own protected brand name. Among the range of international artists to have made the Vietri ceramics unique are: Irene  Kowaliska,  Riccardo  Dolker,  Giovannino   Carrano,  Vincenzo Rispoli, Salvatore Procida, Guido Ambone and Andrea DArienzo. Vietri is also a popular tourist destination with its  wide  pebble beaches and  historic  Saracen  Tower, dating  to  the 16th century. Other surrounding areas include Molina, Albori, Raito and, inland, Benincasa and Dragonea, from which one can take mountain paths that are much appreciated by nature enthusiasts. Not to be missed is the town's most important monument, the 17th century Church of St. Giovanni Battista, with its Majolica covered dome which dominates the townscape.
